George (G R), Nelson, started in the car business more than 40 years ago, selling pre-owned vehicles in Henry County and Martinsville, Virginia. In 1975, Mr. Nelson purchased the Ford Dealership in Bassett Virginia, and built new Dealerships for the Ford store and the aquired Chevrolet franchise in Stanleytown. Later the Mazda, Subaru, Pontiac, Buick, and GMC lines were added, and in the last 10 years, Honda, Toyota, Kia, and Scion lines have helped the Nelson Automotive Family become one of the area's largest automotive retailers. Mr. Nelson continues to be involved in the daily operations of the companies.
Joann Nelson was introduced to the car business by her father who was a local car dealer in the community for many years. Mrs. Nelson is no stranger to the hard work of the car business and works every day with the accounting operations, human resourses, and transaction analysis for all the companies businesses.
Barry has been working in the family business since grade school and has been instrumental in managing the company's growth over the last 30 years. Involved in many community projects and organizations, Barry has been working with local Community and Collegiate Baseball programs for many years. Barry is in the dealerships every day working to make the Nelson Automotive Family the area's best place to buy or service your car.
Lee is a 4th generation family member to join the Nelson Automotive Business. A graduate of Radford University, Lee worked summers at the dealerships throughout his life. Lee currently manages G R Chevrolet Cadillac Buick GMC in Bassett.
Terry Page began his career in Drafting and Graphic Art before joining the Nelson Automotive Family nearly 20 years ago. Terry managed several dealerships before assumming all Financial Responsibilities for all of the Dealerships and non-automotive operations.
Tony Albanese holds Applied Science degrees in Automotive Technologies and Information Systems Management as well as certifications from 12 manufacturers and Hendrick University. Tony has been involved in the Automotive industry since 1974 and directs operations of Information Systems, Marketing, and Fixed Operations.
